Shawn is the branch Manger for Members Co-op Credit Union and has been in the industry for 15 years. He has had his MCCY for a year and enjoys building a team of financial support people that help enable their members to exceed their own financial goals.

Shawn has been on the chamber board for six months but has lived in the area for about 10 years and only recently started working locally. He has frequented many local businesses but not had the opportunity to get to know the management/ownership and the chamber has proved to provide him some of those opportunities.

He is also the Treasurer for the Moose Lake Food shelf and also part of the Kettle River Snowmobile Club.

When not at work Shawn enjoys his 110 acres along with his variety of animals on his hobby farm. It’s a busy lifestyle for sure – keeping up with trails, fences, fields, woods and of course all the animals that keep him plenty busy.

I'm Penny, the owner of Escape by Travel in Cloquet. I have been working in the travel industry since 2013. When I'm not in my office working, you may find me with boots on the ground touring resorts, scouting out new destinations so I can experience them firsthand. This only allows my knowledge to better service you when planning a trip. I feel that my experience can bring you comfort when planning & exploring that destination. Education is the key to success.

Just a bit about Penny outside of work. I have been married for 22 years, 4 kids & 13 grandchildren. I love the blue waters & scuba diving. I've gone diving with sharks on both Caribbean & Pacific Ocean waters. I love historical drama shows such as Outlander, The Crown, Vikings & so on. I guess that all ties in with my love for traveling to the U.K. & Europe.

Essentia Health Moose Lake Foundation

Donna has been the Essentia Health – Moose Lake Foundation Program Director and Community Relations Manager since 2023. Previously, Donna was a math professor at UWS and she taught math, education, and business courses at The College of Saint Scholastica for 15+ years. During this time she also led a STEM camp in Duluth for ten years.

Donna is new in 2024 to the chamber board and continues to serve on various boards in the community. One of her passions is volunteering with her therapy dogs to provide comfort, stress reduction, and support in a variety of settings.

When not at work, Donna loves time with her husband and family and enjoys training her dogs, tending trees and plants, wine making, and home projects.

Eric Nielsen

Gateway Family Health Clinic

Eric has been the administrator for Gateway Family Health Clinic since 2008. He enjoys working with the staff and physicians to provide exceptional medical care in our local communities, Moose Lake, Hinkley and Sandstone. Eric is also part of the Moose Lake Windemere Sanitation Sewer Board, member of Hope Lutheran Church and coaches youth sports.

When Eric is not working or volunteering, he loves spending time with his wife and two daughters, participating in outdoor activities and home improvement projects.

Eric joined the Moose Lake Area Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors in 2021. Eric had been a business member of the Chamber and active in Chamber event for years but joined the board in 2021 to take a more active role in the community.

Jennifer grew up in Moose Lake and has worked at Lakeside Traders since 2017. She enjoys working in the fun and relaxed atmosphere, where everyone that comes into the store is happy. When not working or volunteering she spends we time with her husband and three children, riding her bike and working on house projects.

Jennifer joined the Moose Lake Area Chamber of Commerce in 2022 because she loves her hometown and wants to see it grow and thrive.

Billie Jo Steen

Moose Lake Community School (District No. 97)

Billie Jo Steen is the Superintendent at Moose Lake Community School. She is a Moose Lake High School graduate and has been working at the school since 2008. She considers it an honor and privilege to work with families and the community in providing an exceptional educational experience for the children in her district.

Billie Jo has been volunteering with the Chamber since 2012 and is serving her second term on the board.

When not at work she enjoys gardening, music and spending time with her husband Pete and their three children.
